Runescape iMob: Ice Warrior

First part of the iMob series giving detailed information on some of the better to farm monsters in Runescape.

With the iMob series I hope to help people make a more informed choice when choosing what monsters to farm. This is my first article in the series and will focus on the Ice Warriors.

Ice Warriors

Not the most popular of monsters to farm but I think they are a very good choice for mid-high level players looking to make some risk free cash and some nice experience. They can be found in many areas including but not limited to, White Wolf Mountain, Ice Plateau, Chaos Tunnels and The Asgarnian Ice Caves. I will use the Asgarnian Ices Caves for this guide as I’ve found it to be the best spot. The caves are located on mudskipper point, south of Port Sarim just past the church. Below are a few facts about the mob itself so you are better prepared to farm it.

• 59 Hit points

• Only hits with Melee

• Weak to crushing attacks and fire spells

• Aggressive aggro

• Maximum hit of 7 damage

• Recommended combat level of 60+

• A slayer monster giving 59 Slayer experience

• Great for XP - Can still get 1-2 combat levels a day in the 70's

• Gold charm dropper, farmed by many for this reason alone.

Loot

Ice Warriors have 40+ items in the drop table but I will list the more expensive items here.

• Various Herbs (Including : Ranarr, Kwuarm)

• Various Charms (Gold, Green, Crimson, Blue) - Great drop rate for Gold Charms)

• Seeds (Lots of seeds including : Snap Dragon, Ranarr, Kwuarm, Watermelon)

• Clue Scroll (Level 2, very good drop rate. Average of 1 every 2 runs.)

• Key Parts (Including both loop and teeth parts.)

• Runes (Great place to grab some extra natures, laws and cosmics.)

• Shield, Left half

• Gems (Mostly low level gems, would suggest bringing a chisel and just dropping them)

Efficiency

As with any type of farming in Runescape the trick is to maximize your profit and minimize the cost as well as getting the most kills/drops in a single run. To do this I would suggest using the following.

• Minimum of full rune armour

• Dragon weapon (1h so you can equip a shield) - Shield not needed for 75+ defence

• Lobsters or equivalent is a good choice

• Protect from melee (Level 43 prayer) - Optional

• Chisel

• Teleport to Fally runes

• Experience with clue scrolls

Start off from south Fally bank, this will be your banking spot for this run. Make your way south out of Fally, past the crossroads with the musician (This musician basically allows you full run to the farm spot every time, use it!!) all the way down past the Port Sarim prison. You will notice a church to the west as you head towards mudskipper point; remember this as it will help with later runs. Once you have entered the trapdoor just run past the pirates and head to the snowy area. You will see the Ice Warriors here as well as a few Ice Giant spawns. If you prefer to range or use magic to train here you can hide behind many of the Ice formations on the floor, a halberd can also be used in a few spots. If you are a decent level combat you should have a 3/1 Warrior to food ratio at least so make sure you have a few spare inventory slots. Although some of the seeds and other items are great for cash, doing the Cluescrolls quickly can be a very nice boost to your profits. Make sure to do a clue before you start your next run because you can’t have 2 at any one time. Remember at the end of your run, when you have ran out of food, hit your protect from melee prayer. You can easily get 5+ more kills a run doing this and can easily restore your prayer at the church on the way back.

WARNING - DO NOT ENTER THE CAVE AT THE BACK

For an unprepared traveller this can be a very quick death resulting in a very unhappy runescaper. I accept no responsibility for any items you lose should you choose to let curiosity beat you :)

I hope this information proves useful to some of you out there, as always feel free to leave a message if you have any problems/suggestions or contact me in game, Impact Smith.
